Peggy Baker: Four Phrases

Howie Shia, 2009

This animation is a perfect example of using arcs in animation. It is about a documentary of Peggy Baker, a dancer. Arcs is any motion other than mechanical that has a sort of curved direction, or in other words arced direction. The human body uses such directions in almost every movement we make. Dancing especially amplifies this.

Canada Vignettes: Emergency Numbers

John Weldon, 1984

Cartoon like animation is a good example of Secondary Motion. This is because cartoons are generally over exaggerated. What I mean by that is simply, every act or motion is over expressed. Which is a lot of secondary motion because it isn't just running for example, the legs are angled first, the eyes widen, sometimes mouth drops or stars or other objects float around. This is all to emphasize what is going on.
